2022 Review
TREVOR WINGROVE TOURNAMENT AN INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS
Coquitlam, BC – June 16, 2022 – After a long two-year wait, the Trevor Wingrove Memorial Tournament was back and did not disappoint. The growth of our game was on full display with two new female divisions. The Coquitlam Adanacs won gold in the Female Midget Division and USBOXLA won its first gold medal at this prestigious tournament in the Female Bantam Division.
Alberta and USBOXLA sent 5 teams and there were a total of 28 teams participating in 5 divisions in this annual showcase of the best A1 teams across PeeWee, Bantam, and Midget. It was an incredible weekend of the best young talent in the west.
Female Bantam Division (ages 13-14)
USBOXLA won their first championship at the Trevor Wingrove Memorial Tournament defeating the Saint Burrards 7-2. Syker Schramm led all scorers with 5 goals and an assist. Additional USBOXLA goals were scored by Madi Harris and Abi Harris. Saint Burrards goals came from Vanessa Tingvoll and Kalle Cooper. The Burnaby Lakers won the bronze medal by defeating the Coquitlam Adanacs 5-2.
Female Midget Division (ages 15-16)
The Coquitlam Adanacs defeated the Semiahmoo Rock to win the inaugural female title. Michela Paterson led the Adanacs with 3 goals while singles were registered by Georgia Stevenson and Sloan Velthuijzen. Semiahmoo had 2 goals by Reese Fahlke. The Coquitlam team is coached by Ian Paterson, a former teammate of Trevor Wingrove on the Coquitlam Senior Adanacs. In the bronze medal final USBOXLA won the bronze medal over the Burnaby Lakers.
PeeWee Division (ages 11-12)
The Juan de Fuca Whalers defeated the Ridge Meadows Burrards 7-5 in an exciting gold medal game. Juan de Fuca was led by goalie Chase Dixon-Liddle. Kaydn Hill had 3 goals and 2 assists for Juan de Fuca. Other goal scorers were Ryker London, Finleigh Cooper, Nixon Szadkowski, and Quinn Cottier. Hunter Vanderwal and Tristan Windsor had 2 goals each for Ridge Meadows with a single by Tanner Craiggs. In the bronze medal game USBOXLA defeated the Coquitlam Adanacs 9-5. Trevor Wingrove’s former teammates and Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Famers coached in the medal round – Curt Malawsky for Ridge Meadows and Dallas Eliuk for USBOXLA.
Bantam Division (ages 13-14)
The Langley Thunder won the Bantam championship with an 11-2 win over the Coquitlam Adanacs. 10 different players found the back of the net for the Thunder with Colten Lifton and Max Goller scoring 2 goals each. Single goals were scored by Mason Eastgate, Dylan Massa, Owen Van Ryn, Jackson Read, Reece Bryde, Grayson Pinchin, and Madden Bakatsis. Coquitlam had a goal from Kaleb Hamoka (assisted by Xander Freeman) and a goal by Declin Quinn. The bronze was won by Ridge Meadows who defeated the Juan De Fuca Whalers 6-3.
Midget Division (ages 15-16)
The Coquitlam Adanacs won the Midget title with an exciting 8-7 win over the Juan de Fuca Whalers. Owen Eckert had 5 goals for Coquitlam and singles were scored by Evan Crosby, Chris Black, and Adam Dane. Coquitlam is coached by Anthony Buono. The Whalers had 2 players with 2 goals each: Dawson Wade, Quinn Sutton. Single goals were scored by Kalum Easton, Seth Fryer, and Chanse Peskett. The Calgary Axemen won the bronze medal with a 6-1 win over the Ridge Meadows Burrards.
Trevor Wingrove Most Inspirational Player Award
The Trevor Wingrove Most Inspirational Player Award was given in each of our 5 divisions. This athlete is recognized for quality of play, sportsmanship, and inspirational play to teammates. Each recipient was given an amazing prize package that included a Gait Lacrosse stick, strung by Paul Gait, one of the best players to ever play the game. They also received a 3-game ticket package from the Vancouver Warriors and an equipment bag from USBOXLA.

Female Bantam – Payton McIntosh (Saint Burrards)
PeeWee – Sebastian Papa (Coquitlam Adanacs)
Bantam – Dane Suderman (Calgary Axemen)
Midget – Jakob Fikowski (Juan de Fuca Whalers)
Many of the athletes from this tournament will go on to play for Team BC, Team Alberta, and other all-star teams in pursuit of provincial and national titles. Some of these athletes will follow in the footsteps of the likes of Reid Bowering and Wes Berg and may play collegiate lacrosse, in the BC Junior A Lacrosse League, the Western Lacrosse League, or professionally for the National Lacrosse League or the Premier Lacrosse League.
We are very proud of the dedicated volunteers who staged this tournament, regarded as the largest and most competitive tournament drawing from the best teams in the West.
